The Academy of the Hebrew There are certain grammatical features of the Hebrew language that you should note. Aside from Hebrew, I speak five languages with varying degrees of fluency, and Hebrew, while it may be easier than some of them, doesn't fit the grammatical paradigm of any language I speak (especially when it comes to conjugation). The second word, although Aramaic, is used in modern Hebrew (mainly in singular form) as נֶדֶר [ neder ]. Bavli is a special case since it uses a very small vocabulary that is pretty easy to learn and access – even without proper Aramaic grammar. Disparate forms of the Hebrew language were synchronized by efforts by many individuals among them the famous Ben-Yehuda into a common New/Modern Hebrew language. I wanted to share a funny story Hebrew is frustrating for me *because* I love learning languages. I took the modern Hebrew course so I am unable to comment on the Biblical Hebrew course except to say that I have seen some demos of these classes and I saw nothing but vocabular and grammar, no kabbalah or gematria. Now, the כָּל [ kol ] (=all) is a word familiar to everybody who ever looked in Hebrew book. Biblical Hebrew is good for following the Siddur/ Prayerbook or reading Torah; Modern if you want speak conversationally with Israelis. This language is now the official language in Israel alongside Arabic. They are so well done, in fact, that those with more background envied the modern typeface and layout — and the Hebrew-only editions of the Artscroll Siddur and Chumash are the result. Yesterday was my first day in a modern Hebrew language class. It is no mystery why the Artscroll Siddur, Chumash and Talmud are ..
